EastEnders viewers couldn't stop singing EastEnders praises following the latest episode of the BBC soap on Thursday night.
The episode marked the the start of new boss Kate Oates' era, and fans claim to have already noticed a difference in quality.
Just minutes into the episode, longtime viewers of the soap rushed to social media to compliment what they felt was a "change in tone" to the show.
One happy fan wrote: "EastEnders has a different feel tonight is there a different writer? It’s better!"
A second entertained viewer tweeted: "Classic EastEnders tonight. First episode by Kate Oates if this continues I'll be happy!"
John Yorke stood down as executive consultant in December following an 18-month stint overseeing the show as a caretaker boss.
Last year Kate vowed to bring back some familiar faces to Albert Square.
"I haven’t made the calls yet but there will definitely be two, possibly three old faces returning," she told Metro.
"You’ll probably see them in the first quarter of the new year".
The producer also opened up about Jean Slater's upsetting cancer storyline, and said: 'It’s going to be a big year for the Slaters. Jean’s going to have a bit of new challenge coming her way.
"But she may find that it’s the best thing that ever happened to her, so there’s some fun stuff to challenge her there along with Lacey Turner as Stacey."
